Graphing Our Class Reward

We are working on graphing during math right now.  Last week we learned how to interpret and create pictographs. Together the class generated a list of rewards for earning all of Mr. Potato Head's pieces.  We then created a data table and voted on a class reward!  After, the kids made pictographs on dry erase boards.  Check out our results!

Class Reward!

We earned our first class reward! Each day the class shows "evidence" of star behavior we add a piece to Mr. Potato Head. Once Mr. (Or Mrs.) Potato Head has all of his/her pieces, the class gets a reward! We will choose our reward tomorrow! I am very proud of the class, they have ALL been working hard to show STAR behavior!

What is The Daily Five?

The Daily 5 continues to be the focus of our literacy instruction in second grade. Take a few minutes to watch this video, it is a great overview of The Daily Five and how it is structured in the classroom. What can your child tell you about "read to self" and "work on writing?"

Supplies Appreciated!

If you are interested in donating supplies to our classroom, it is greatly appreciated!
We need:
  1. Glue sticks
  2. Baggies (Snack, sandwich, quart and gallon size)
  3. Dry erase markers, all sizes and colors
  4. Tissues

Star Behavior

Last week I began sending home the Daily Star Report.  The purpose of the star report is to keep families informed about the choices their children are making in the classroom.  Together, the class generated a list of behavior promises.  These promises are found at the top of the daily star report.   Each day the class shows star behavior they earn a Mr. Potato head piece.  Once Mr. (Or Mrs.) Potato head has all of his pieces, the class earns a reward! I am proud of how hard the class is working to show "evidence" of star behavior.  Also, don't forget to read the notes at the bottom.  This is a great way for  children to have  conversations at home about what they are learning in school.
Don't forget to initial your child's report nightly!
