Main Idea and Detail

In reading we've been working on finding the main idea and details in nonfiction text.  We partnered up and read books on sharks and then chose one main idea with supporting details.  We then used a sock puppet app to share our main ideas and details!

Choose Your Own Adventure

In writing we are working on narratives. We wrote a story about an encounter with a leprechaun. Our entertaining beginning and elaborative segment were written together as a class. Then, each child wrote their own main event and ending to the story. Choose from the 22 leprechaun adventures to listen to. Listen closely to the way each child built up their main event with action, description, dialogue, thoughts, and onomatopoeias. I am sure you will be hooked in with each main event and ending as the kids worked hard to build suspense throughout their writing!
