Last Friday, Mr. Oates joined our class for a special activity, Crumple Sam. He introduced the kids to Crumple Sam.
Mr. Oates talked to the kids about respecting differences. Mr. Oates then showed the class that when Crumple Sam hears a put down it makes him feel bad or "crumpled up" on the inside.
Mr. Oates then connected this to times when the kids heard a hurtful comment about themselves or a friend. At the end of the activity, each child had an opportunity to compliment a classmate. It was TRULY a wonderful activity and showed the kindness and sense of community we have in our classroom!
